"We Care"

Religious Education

Being Church of England Aided, Christian teaching is foremost in the school’s Religious Education.  We teach Religious Education that reflects the fact that the religious traditions of Great Britain are, in the main, Christian, while taking account of teaching and practices of other principle religions represented in Great Britain.

This Religious Education seeks to promote knowledge, understanding, respect and tolerance of the beliefs and practices of all faiths and also to help pupils reflect on their own beliefs and values.  We recognize that Religious Education is a complex

subject and one which is concerned with the development of the whole child.

A daily act of collective worship is held and is regularly taken by members of the Parish Church and Methodist Church.   Children also write and perform their own class assemblies.  We celebrate the main Christian festivals and regularly visit our parish church for special services such as Harvest Festival, Christmas, Easter and the Leavers’ service. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from R.E. or collective worship. Please discuss any concerns with the Headteacher.

Please see the Oxfordshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education for more information regarding the syllabus.

The school's religious character is an integral part of everyday life at Ashbury. Pupils' behaviour is excellent.
