Eco Week at Westmill Wind Farm

Ashbury Windfarm Solar 2

On Monday the 18th of June some of the children from Ashdown class had the fabulous opportunity to attend an educational event at Westmill Wind Farm. A quote from one of the children Elliott Goggins said,

'It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. My favourite part was making a plaster of Paris model of my fist for the biofuel "candle". I also enjoyed laying underneath the turbines as it looked as if they were going to chop you in half.'

The children were able to understand how they are made, look at the different ways solar power is useful and make a plaster of Paris model of their fists.

Towards the end of the day the four pupils got a private tour around the solar park. Another quote from Rachael Johanson-Brown said

'It was a fabulous sight. All of the panels were lined up. They said it cost over 17million pounds.'

Over all the children had a great afternoon at Westmill Wind Farm during eco week. I am sure the rest of the school would enjoy it as much as we did.

The school's religious character is an integral part of everyday life at Ashbury. Pupils' behaviour is excellent.
